PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between New Tall Guy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Valentino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, New Tall Guy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Valentino!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Valentino pushes Guy up against the cage in a clinch.
Guy tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Valentino smiles and moves away.

Guy closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Valentino is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Guy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Valentino defends it well.

Valentino is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Guy pulls his head out easily.
Valentino wants to get back to full guard.
Guy prevents Valentino from standing back up.

Valentino manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Valentino tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Valentino gets in close and instigates a clinch.

It looks like New Tall Guy has been cut.
Guy is trying to drag Valentino to the mat but Valentino just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Guy tries to pull guard but Valentino holds him up against the cage and eventually Guy drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for New Tall Guy. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Guy jumps guard but Valentino stands there with Guy around his waist. Guy gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Guy takes an elbow to the temple.
Oh Guy is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Valentino has Guy pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Guy is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Valentino - that's hurt Guy badly! Oh, another knee lands and Guy is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Guy doesn't seem to be complaining.
