Jones has chosen Tonight is the night as his entrance music. Mister Awesome has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mister Awesome!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Jones!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Anthony Taglia and Jonathan Paton.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones is looking for a kimura here.
Jones not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Jones missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Jones is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Awesome is just riding it out for now. Jones eventually gives up the hold.
Jones is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Awesome reverses the position - he's now on top in Jones's guard.
Awesome passes into half guard.

Awesome prevents Jones from standing back up.
Awesome wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy.
Awesome looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Jones tries to kick Awesome off but Awesome keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Jones is not content to let Awesome control the position.
Awesome sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Awesome seems to be looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Awesome seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jones looks like he's trying to stand up.
Jones looks gassed!
Awesome perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Awesome wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy.

We're going to have a standup here because Mister Awesome wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Jones crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Awesome - the referee stops the clock and Jones gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Awesome. Jones manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Awesome stalks Jones and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Jones's face. Jones staggers backwards, shaken.
Awesome rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jones uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Awesome.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jones is defended easily by Awesome.
Awesome tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range.
Awesome misses with a series of wild punches.
Sloppy strikes from Jones. Those never looked like landing.

Awesome closes the distance and clinches.
Jones has Awesome pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Awesome manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Awesome's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Awesome working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jones changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Awesome fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mister Awesome has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Jones.

Awesome gets a takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Awesome seems to be working for a kimura but Jones defends the submission attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Awesome is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Jones misses with a low kick.
Good work by Awesome as he checks the leg kick.
Awesome misses with the combination.
Jones throws a right and a left that both miss.
Awesome fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jones on the side of the head.
Jones misses with a jab, cross combination.

Awesome drops Jones with a beautiful combination! Jones stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Awesome is looking for the KO!

Jones is rocked!

It looks like Michael Jones has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Awesome shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense.
Jones avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jones is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Jones is still on wobbly legs! Can Awesome finish him?
Awesome knocks out Jones with a massive right hand! The ref tackles Awesome before he can follow up with any more strikes and that's it everyone. Awesome picks up the big W with a huge KO!
