The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warhelm tries to clinch up
and Mendez makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Mendez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Warhelm manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Warhelm wants to get back to his feet but Mendez passes into half guard.
Mendez landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Mendez prevents Warhelm from standing back up.
Warhelm is not content to let Mendez control the position.
Still in half guard, Mendez seems content to control.

Mendez is looking to take a break and control but Warhelm is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Warhelm is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Mendez locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Warhelm is forced to tap!
