Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ken Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pelle Paniikki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paniikki comes into a darkened arena with his song building. N'sync - Bye Bye Bye kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ken Hansen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pelle Paniikki!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paniikki shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hansen sprawls well. Hansen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Paniikki gets slowly back to his feet.
Hansen throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Paniikki tries to clinch but Hansen moves out of range.
Paniikki takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Some wild striking there from Hansen.
Hansen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Paniikki tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hansen swivels and escapes.

Hansen darts in and clinches Paniikki up against the cage.
Paniikki drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ken Hansen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pelle Paniikki.
Hansen misses with a knee to the head.

Still in the clinch, Hansen scores with a nice short uppercut.
Hansen stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Paniikki fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Paniikki jumps guard but Hansen stands there with Paniikki around his waist. Paniikki gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Hansen throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Paniikki drops back looking for a leg! Hansen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hansen manages to kick Paniikki off! Paniikki jumps back into Hansen's guard.

Paniikki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hansen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hansen looking for a guillotine here but Paniikki defends easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Paniikki advances position into side control!
Hansen tries to bench press Paniikki off him but Paniikki keeps the position.

Paniikki tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Paniikki has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Paniikki is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hansen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Paniikki has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Hansen!

Paniikki with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Paniikki has control of Hansen's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hansen regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Paniikki is trying to take his opponent's back.
Hansen wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Hansen tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Paniikki is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hansen has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hansen!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hansen is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Paniikki is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Paniikki wants to pass the guard but Hansen is defending well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Paniikki is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Paniikki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ken Hansen will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hansen postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Paniikki in real trouble here! The ref calls for Paniikki to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ken Hansen!
Ken Hansen was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
