Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Scott King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ulf Schmidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schmidt rushes King and presses him up against the cage.

Scott King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

King lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
King goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

A close round but Ulf Schmidt will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

King's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Schmidt connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! King scrambles back to his feet.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
King is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

King seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

King's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
