Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Christian De Ertu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dante Durant!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Ertu fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
De Ertu shoots in for a takedown but Durant shows good takedown defense.
Horrible takedown by De Ertu or perhaps it was just good defense by Durant which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Christian De Ertu. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from De Ertu is defended easily by Durant.
Christian De Ertu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Ertu shoots in looking for a takedown. Durant tries to sprawl out of it but De Ertu keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Durant manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
De Ertu fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

De Ertu shoots in looking for a takedown but Durant manages to keep the fight standing, pushing De Ertu's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
De Ertu tries to clinch there but Durant circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Durant closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Durant lands in his opponent's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

De Ertu is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Durant is aware though and is defending well.

De Ertu working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Durant doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but De Ertu is tightening it up a little... Durant has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Durant reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Durant taps out! Nice BJJ there by De Ertu!
