Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Raekwon The Chef (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Raekwon The Chef!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nick Penn!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The Chef swings for the body but Penn moves out of range.
The Chef just misses with a punch to the body.
Penn lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

The Chef fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Penn, pushing him back against the ropes.

The Chef drags the fight down to the ground.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Penn passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Penn tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Penn has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The Chef is trying to control Penn's posture but Penn avoids it.

Penn goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, The Chef rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Penn's guard! Nice work there by The Chef!

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Penn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but The Chef can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The Chef tries to free his leg and advance position but Penn is retaining full guard.
Penn lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for The Chef!

Penn goes for an armbar but he's not got it… The Chef turns into him and now he's in Penn's guard.

Penn is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. The Chef is aware though and is defending well.

The Chef makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Penn is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and The Chef defends well.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Penn is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The Chef has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Penn is proving hard to escape from.

Penn drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and The Chef dives on top into guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The Chef got a little sloppy there for a moment and Penn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, The Chef has managed to get both his arms back between Penn's legs - danger averted.
The Chef stands up over Penn, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raekwon The Chef dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



The Chef has Penn up against the ropes in a clinch.
The Chef works on Penn's body with a couple of short punches.

The Chef breaks from the clinch.
The Chef scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Penn doesn't seem bothered though.
Penn lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Penn rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but The Chef moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Penn gets tackled into the ropes by The Chef. The Chef maintains the clinch.
The Chef lands with a light punch inside.

The Chef jumps into guard, dragging Penn to the mat.
The Chef is pulling down on Penn's head. It's preventing any offense from Penn, at least for the moment.

Raekwon The Chef overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Penn tries to free his leg and advance position but The Chef is retaining full guard.
The Chef has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Raekwon The Chef has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Penn misses with a jab, cross combination.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
The Chef tries to close the distance and clinch up but Penn swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Penn gets tackled into the ropes by The Chef. The Chef maintains the clinch.

The Chef jumps guard and drags Penn to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The Chef not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Penn wants to pass the guard but The Chef is keeping the position.

The Chef pulls Penn in close to his closed guard and prevents Penn from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Raekwon The Chef.

Penn pushes The Chef up against the ropes in a clinch.

The Chef escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The Chef pulls guard effortlessly.
The Chef is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

It looks like Nick Penn has been cut.

The Chef thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Penn shoots in looking for a takedown. The Chef tries to sprawl out of it but Penn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. The Chef manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Penn swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by The Chef.

Penn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around The Chef's waist but The Chef gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Penn off to one side.
Penn takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Penn tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but The Chef swivels and escapes.
Raekwon The Chef has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Penn.

The Chef closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.

The Chef gets control of Penn's arms and successfully pulls guard. The Chef will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Penn is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! The Chef is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! The Chef has escaped and now he's on top!

The Chef breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well The Chef has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
