Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Arturo Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Riley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rivera's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Do You Call My Name by Ra. Riley has chosen Get Up as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Riley!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Russell Pearce and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Riley. No joy for Rivera on that attempt.

John Riley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rivera is refusing to be controlled, as Riley sits in half guard.
Riley passes the guard and advances to mount!
Riley postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rivera looks a forlorn figure.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Riley stands up from mount. Strange move.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rivera had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Riley is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rivera Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Riley's back instead.

Rivera has his arm under Riley's chin here. Game over son! Rivera squeezes tightly and Riley is forced to tap out!
