Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Cain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Mazyck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Daniel Cain has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Cain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Mazyck!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Steve Montenegro and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cain stalks Mazyck and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mazyck's face. Mazyck staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like Steve Mazyck has been cut.
Cain looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cain swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mazyck swinging wildly here.
Mazyck slips a jab and a cross from Cain.
Cain lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cain fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mazyck slips a jab and a cross from Cain.
Mazyck moves out of range of the body kick.
Mazyck takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Daniel Cain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cain scores with a hook to the body. Mazyck takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Mazyck throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cain was covering up waiting for the punch and Mazyck finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Mazyck wants to control from the top but Cain keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mazyck throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Steve Mazyck hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Cain tried to score with a low kick but Mazyck checks it.

Cain misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mazyck takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Cain sizes up Mazyck with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Cain scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Sloppy strikes from Cain. Those never looked like landing.
Cain changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cain gets tackled into the cage by Mazyck. Mazyck maintains the clinch.

Mazyck pulls guard effortlessly.

Mazyck looking for a guillotine here but Cain defends easily.
Mazyck looks gassed!
Mazyck pulls Cain in to control the position.

Cain wants to stand but Mazyck has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Mazyck has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Cain has passed into side control.
You can see the frustration on Mazyck's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cain wants to stand but Mazyck is controlling his arm.
Mazyck struggling a bit here.
Mazyck trying to control but Cain flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Cain connects with a body shot that sends Mazyck's belly button to the back.

Mazyck fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Cain tries a head kick but it misses.
Cain works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A jab from Cain finds it's way through Mazyck's defenses.
Cain is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
A cross from Cain lands.
The crowd cheers as Cain lands an impressive looking overhand right. Mazyck doesn't seem phased though.
Mazyck is breathing heavily.

Cain lands a big head kick that sends Mazyck tumbling to the mat! Cain takes a step backwards and waves Mazyck back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Cain tries to bum rush Mazyck with a series of wild strikes but Mazyck uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Mazyck walks into a stiff left hand from Cain.
Cain lands with a right hand.
Mazyck tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cain swivels and escapes.
Mazyck tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Daniel Cain is winning the standup battle so far.
A right-left combo lands from Cain.
Cain pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cain feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mazycks jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Cain lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cain works Mazyck's body with a nice hook.
Cain lands a head shot.
Cain pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cain lands a right hook to the body.
Cain lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Cain moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Mazyck walks into a straight right hand from Cain.
Cain scores with a three punch combo!
Nice shot lands for Cain.
Cain feints a jab promting Mazyck to slip. Cain then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mazyck slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Cain is working the combinations to good effect here.
Mazyck pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mazyck has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Daniel Cain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cain looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Mazyck shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cain napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Mazyck decides to take the fight back to the feet.

and Cain cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cain scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Mazyck has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Cain dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Mazyck gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Cain thows a body shot but no joy.

Mazyck closes the distance and clinches.
Cain is trying to break free.

Mazyck has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Cain is trying to keep an underhook but Mazyck manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Cain tries to kick Mazyck off in order to stand up. Mazyck Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Mazyck wants to control but Cain is keeping him busy.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mazyck tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cain lands a two punch combo.
Mazyck shoots in for a takedown but Cain shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Cain tries a head kick but it misses.
Cain rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mazyck moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Cain throws a combination. Mazyck tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Cain closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Cain jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mazyck drives through and clinches with Cain against the cage.
Mazyck is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Cain is defending well for now.
Mazyck is trying to pull guard but Cain has him pressed against the cage.

Mazyck manages to pull guard.
Cain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mazyck on the ground.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mazyck trying to control the position.

Mazyck has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Cain off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Mazyck takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Mazyck has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Cain thumps Mazyck with a low kick.
Cain fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Mazyck tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cain sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mazyck somewhat.
Daniel Cain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Mazyck.
Mazyck takes a kick to the side of the head.

Cain pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Cain pivots, looking for a leg kick but Mazyck is out of range and Cain settles back down.
Mazyck takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Mazyck tries to clinch but Cain is having none of it.
Cain lunges at Mazyck with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Mazyck's hand.
Mazyck moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Cain is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Cain gets caught flat footed, as Mazyck shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Mazyck dives in and grabs Cain's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cain pushes down on Mazyck's head and hops out.
Cain fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Mazyck on the side of the head.
Cain tests Mazyck's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Mazyck on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Daniel Cain is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Cain feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mazycks jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Cain scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Mazyck shoots in for a takedown but Cain shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mazyck shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cain pinned against the cage. Cain gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cain, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
