Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Everton Passos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Naves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Everton Passos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Naves!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Passos misses with a double jab

and Naves counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Naves seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Naves preventing the sweep.
Passos is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Passos wants to stand and escape but Naves is having none of it.
Naves slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Lucas Naves.
Naves tries to close the distance and clinch up but Passos swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Naves stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Naves wants it to stay on the feet.

Passos gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Passos is trying to stall.
Naves lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Passos.
Passos wants to get back to striking at distance but Naves won't allow it.
Naves is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Passos manages to break the clinch.

Naves has taken the fight to the clinch.

Naves tightens his grip and picks Passos up, before dumping him to the ground. Passos manages to land in guard.

Passos is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Naves is aware though and is defending well.
Passos looking for a sweep. Not yet Passos, not yet.
Naves controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Naves decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Passos is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Naves shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Naves showed some decent athleticism there.
Naves working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Passos looks like he's trying to stand up.
Naves tries to pass to full mount but Passos defends it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Naves controlling the pace.

Naves escapes and gets back to his feet.
Naves dives in and grabs Passos's left leg, looking for a takedown. Passos pushes down on Naves's head and hops out.

Naves gets a clinch.
Passos wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Passos can't get the takedown.
Naves tries for a takedown but Passos manages to get underhooks.
Naves gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Passos.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Everton Passos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Naves is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A frustrated look appears on Passos's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Naves prevents the takedown attempt.

Naves is trying to trip Passos. He has hold of a leg but Passos is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Naves persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Naves engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Passos is trying to control the position but Naves postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucas Naves dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Naves tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Passos misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Naves takes a swing at Passos's ribcage but misses.

Naves has taken the fight to the clinch.
Passos jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Naves walks away with a smile on his face. Passos gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Passos fails to land with a series of punches.
Passos displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Naves.

Naves shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Passos tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Passos on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Passos flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Lucas Naves has got the better of the ground game so far.
Naves not doing much here.
Naves landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Passos is looking for a sweep. Naves is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Naves in particular looking to stall.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Passos is trying to maintain the position but Naves is very close to passing his half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Naves perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Naves working Passos over with strikes.
Naves not doing much here.

Lucas Naves has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Naves shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Passos sprawls well. Passos wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Naves gets slowly back to his feet.
Naves doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Passos darts in trying to clinch

and Naves counters with a single leg into guard. Passos didn't expect that.
Naves tries to free his leg and advance position but Passos is retaining full guard.
Naves is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Passos working a defensive guard but Naves passes into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Naves trying to control the pace.
Naves drops an elbow to the side of Passos's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, if Naves is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Naves lands strikes from half guard.
Naves passes into side control, despite Passos's attempt to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucas Naves showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Passos tries to clinch but Naves is having none of it.

Naves closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Passos did well to prevent Naves getting side control.
Naves wants to lay and pray for a moment but Passos keeps working.
Naves prevents Passos from standing back up.
Naves is nestled in close to Passos, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Passos is looking for a sweep. Naves is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Naves passes to full mount!
Passos is trying to reverse the position but instead Naves has taken his back - oops!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Naves has got one arm under Passos's chin. This could be trouble... Passos trying to control the other hand but Naves gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Passos has tapped out! The fight is over!
