Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Lachance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Jaques (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Lachance has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Lachance!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aaron Jaques!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A right-left combo lands from Jaques.


It looks like John Lachance has been cut.
Lachance is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Jaques.
Jaques stalks Lachance and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lachance's face. Lachance staggers backwards, shaken.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lachance fails to land the takedown.
Jaques throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lachance.
Jaques stuffs the takedown attempt from Lachance. Lachance gets slowly back to his feet.
Lachance walks into a stiff left hand from Jaques.
Jaques throws a big shot that misses.
Jaques feints a jab promting Lachance to slip. Jaques then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Lachance slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Lachance fails with an attempt to clinch.

Lachance blocks a jab.
Sloppy strikes from Jaques. Those never looked like landing.
Aaron Jaques seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jaques throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jaques lands a jab-cross combination.


John Lachance's cut is getting worse.
Lachance fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Lachance. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jaques digs a good hook to Lachance's body.

Lachance bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Lachance tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lachance has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jaques can do anything to dispel that myth.

Lachance takes a little break here. Jaques wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jaques is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Lachance asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Lachance tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lachance has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lachance works to advance to full mount. Jaques defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jaques throws a front kick that sends Lachance stumbling back into the cage.
Aaron Jaques is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lachance ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Jaques misses with an uppercut

and Lachance counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jaques won't be happy with that.
Lachance trying to control the action but Jaques is working from the bottom.
Jaques gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Jaques really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lachance. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lachance lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Jaques hang on?
Lachance will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

John Lachance overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Lachance is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jaques can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Lachance wants to finish this one by submission but Jaques is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Lachance.

Lachance can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jaques is looking to escape.

Lachance is working for a guillotine from mount but Jaques frees his head quite easily.
Lachance pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Lachance fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Lachance won't let Jaques get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Lachance avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jaques lands an overhand right.
Lachance shoots in but no luck this time.
Lachance dives in and grabs Jaques's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jaques pushes down on Lachance's head and hops out.
That kick from Jaques tenderised Lachance's leg. Lachance is trying to keep his angry face on.
Jaques lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lachance circles away quickly and effectively.
Jaques swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Lachance counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jaques won't be happy with that.
Lachance fails to land a wild elbow strike.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Check out the look on Lachance's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Jaques stops Lachance from passing to mount.
Lachance landing strikes.
Jaques is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Lachance works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jaques wants to get back to his feet but Lachance drags him back down.

Lachance is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jaques is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
A lull in the action here.

Lachance is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jaques knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Lachance cracks Jaques with an elbow. That is naaassty.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lachance scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Jaques to see if he's OK.
Jaques tries to escape but Lachance is in control.
Lachance throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Lachance has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lachance is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jaques is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
