PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Snitch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keijo Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richards has chosen Rolling Stones - Paint It Black as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rob Snitch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Keijo Richards!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards slips under a jab.
Snitch thows a body shot but no joy.
A head kick by Snitch misses
and Richards counters with a stiff right hand.
Snitch takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Snitch throws the kick towards the body but Richards avoids it.
Richards lands a nice leg kick that just misses Snitch's sensitive parts.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Snitch ducks right into an uppercut from Richards.
Richards swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Snitch.
Snitch thows a left - swing and a miss!
Good shot there by Snitch.
Richards scores with a jab.
Richards uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Snitch.

Richards drives through with a takedown into Snitch's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Richards accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Richards stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Snitch swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Richards with a flurry of punches that miss.

Richards is looking to work some ground and pound but Snitch has wrist control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Snitch wants to get back to his feet but Richards is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Richards throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Snitch holds on and takes a little breather.
Snitch wants to stand but Richards is controlling the position.

Snitch is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rob Snitch.
Richards uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Snitch.
Snitch takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Richards uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Snitch.
Rob Snitch is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Richards lands a head kick that stumbles Snitch and the fighters go to the mat.


It looks like Rob Snitch has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Snitch is looking to sinch up a triangle. Richards throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Snitch's body to avoid the submission. Snitch has instead reached around Richards's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Snitch arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Rob Snitch!
In his post fight interview, Rob Snitch started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
