PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Voll Horst (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dennis Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horst misses with a jab, cross combination.
Horst throws a right hand that Hill ducks under and follows up with a left that Hill also avoids with ease.
Hill shoots in but no luck this time.
Horst keeps Hill at a distance using the push kick.
Hill looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

It looks like Dennis Hill has been cut.
Hill blocks a head kick by Horst.
Hill bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Horst's head backwards.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Dennis Hill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horst throws a combination. Hill tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Hill has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Hill stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hill wants it to stay on the feet.
Horst throws a half hearted mid kick.
Hill blocks the body kick.
Hill tries for a takedown but Horst sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Hill tries to close the distance and clinch but Horst swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Nice takedown defense from Horst. No joy for Hill on that attempt.

Horst looks for the body kick but Hill saw that one coming.
Horst fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hill is trying desperately to land a takedown but Horst is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Hill.
Horst throws a leg kick but Hill sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Hill tries to close the distance and clinch up but Horst swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Horst leaves Hill with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Horst throws a nice looking combination but Hill bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A looping hook to the body misses from Horst. Hill does a little dance to reset his feet.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Hill dives in and grabs Horst's left leg, looking for a takedown. Horst pushes down on Hill's head and hops out.

Horst gets control of Hill's arms and successfully pulls guard. Horst will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Hill wants to get up but he can't break Horst's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Hill frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Horst is squirming around, avoiding Hill's attempts to control the action.
Horst flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

Hill might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Horst kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's time! Horst's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Hill tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Hill takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Hill shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Horst as he jumps to the side.

Horst pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
A right-left combo lands from Horst.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hill looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Horst is fending him off so far but Hill persists. Nope, Horst circles away and we're back to standing.
Hill takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hill is looking to clinch but Horst is avoiding it.

Hill keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Horst wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Voll Horst is winning the standup battle so far.

and Hill counters with an outside leg kick.
Horst keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Voll Horst has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dennis Hill.

Hill lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Hill.

Horst lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Horst misses with an attempted mid kick.
Hill changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Horst tries to avoid it but Hill manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Horst to the ground. Horst escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hill has a takedown stuffed.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Horst throws a push kick but Hill slaps the foot to one side.
Hill takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Hill drives through and clinches with Horst against the cage.
Horst tries to pull guard but Hill won't allow it.
A frustrated look appears on Horst's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Horst's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Horst content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Horst throws a big right hand that misses.
Horst wants to control from the top but Hill keeps moving.
Horst throws an elbow that misses. Hill uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Horst's guard. Nice move by Hill!

Horst is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Horst is trying to hold Hill in close to prevent damage but Hill has managed to pass into half guard.
Hill looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Dennis Hill has got the better of the ground game so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Horst pushes Hill off but Hill dives into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Voll Horst showed his dominance in that final round.
