Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poppy defending well as OConnell loads up on a big left hand.
Poppy moves forwards but OConnell connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Poppy uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by OConnell.
OConnell misses with a body shot.
OConnell pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
OConnell takes a swing at Poppy's ribcage but misses.

Poppy shoots in and bounces OConnell off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
OConnell is striking off his back. Poppy thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Poppy passes to full mount!
Poppy lands a big elbow.

Poppy looking to secure an arm triangle but OConnell defends it well.

Poppy wants to finish this one by submission but OConnell is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Poppy.
Poppy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Poppy is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. OConnell can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

OConnell flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
OConnell is looking to improve his position but Poppy isn't that keen on the idea.
OConnell tries to hold on but Poppy postures up.

OConnell has left one of his arms exposed and Poppy doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. OConnell screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
