Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Spartacus Dominic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, COGEDOR DE VIEJAS!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DE VIEJAS shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dominic pinned against the cage. Dominic gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Nice sprawl there from Dominic as DE VIEJAS shoots in.
DE VIEJAS fails with the takedown.
Spartacus Dominic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of COGEDOR DE VIEJAS.
Dominic rushes DE VIEJAS and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Dominic breaks from the clinch.
Dominic shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Dominic tries to stand but his hand is stuck under DE VIEJAS.
Dominic thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed DE VIEJAS's head.
DE VIEJAS is trying to maintain the position but Dominic is very close to passing his half guard.
DE VIEJAS tries to get to full guard but Dominic has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Dominic is nestled in close to DE VIEJAS, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
DE VIEJAS wants to improve his position but Dominic is controlling well.
DE VIEJAS looks gassed!
Dominic wants to stand but his hand is trapped. DE VIEJAS uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Dominic wants to stand but DE VIEJAS is controlling his posture from full guard.
Dominic knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for DE VIEJAS on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
DE VIEJAS had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Dominic is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. DE VIEJAS Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Dominic's back instead.
DE VIEJAS has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Dominic! Can he survive? No! He's out! DE VIEJAS gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). COGEDOR DE VIEJAS!
