Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Aleksander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zaid Abdul Karim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aleksander comes to the cage accompanied by Backbone - Gojira. Ivan Aleksander could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Zaid Abdul Karim's chin.

The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Sergei Dronov and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abdul Karim misses with a takedown
and Aleksander makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Aleksander misses with a double jab
and Abdul Karim counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Aleksander tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Abdul Karim wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Aleksander pushes Abdul Karim away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Abdul Karim gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Aleksander on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Aleksander tries to get out of the position.
Abdul Karim is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Aleksander knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Abdul Karim tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Abdul Karim has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Aleksander is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Abdul Karim is controlling him well.
Abdul Karim is working to tighten is grip on Aleksander's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Aleksander has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Abdul Karim is really squeezing tight and eventually Aleksander passes out! Abdul Karim breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

A determined Zaid Abdul Karim didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
