Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jason Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Caceres Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Shields!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Victor Caceres Junior!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields wants to clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Caceres Junior.
Shields tries to close the distance and clinch but Caceres Junior swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Shields will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Shields stuffs the takedown.

Shields closes the distance and pushes Caceres Junior back into the cage.
Shields can't find room to land a body shot as Caceres Junior controls the action.
Caceres Junior is struggling to control the position.
Caceres Junior prevents the takedown attempt.
Shields lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

That's time! Shields's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Caceres Junior seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Shields escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Caceres Junior gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Caceres Junior tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Caceres Junior has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

A close second round but Victor Caceres Junior will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Caceres Junior instigates a clinch.

Shields has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Caceres Junior avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Caceres Junior tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Caceres Junior tries for a takedown but Shields manages to get underhooks.
Caceres Junior jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Shields walks away with a smile on his face. Caceres Junior gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Caceres Junior changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shields tries to avoid it but Caceres Junior manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shields to the ground. Shields escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Caceres Junior throws a big elbow that misses.

Caceres Junior is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Shields is controlling him.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Caceres Junior can do anything to dispel that myth.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shields postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Caceres Junior is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shields is aware though and is defending well.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jason Shields.
I think Caceres Junior has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
