Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kadian Aitkens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolay Capriotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Capriotti is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Been Away Too Long - Soundgarden. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kadian Aitkens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nikolay Capriotti!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aitkens swings for the body but Capriotti moves out of range.

Capriotti closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Aitkens to the mat! Aitkens manages to get full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Capriotti drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Aitkens manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Capriotti has Aitkens in his guard.

Capriotti escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Aitkens gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Capriotti is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Aitkens defends well.
Aitkens trying to control the position from guard on top but Capriotti is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Aitkens wants to pass the guard but Capriotti is keeping the position.
Aitkens has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Capriotti bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Aitkens's guard.

Capriotti drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Aitkens manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Capriotti has Aitkens in his guard.

Capriotti had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Aitkens defends it easily.

Capriotti has his foot on Aitkens's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aitkens works his way back into a safe position though.

Aitkens gets to his feet. Capriotti looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Capriotti is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Aitkens knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Capriotti is trying to get an arm triangle but Aitkens is defending well.

Capriotti goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Aitkens rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Capriotti's guard! Nice work there by Aitkens!

Aitkens got a little sloppy there for a moment and Capriotti has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Aitkens has managed to get both his arms back between Capriotti's legs - danger averted.
Aitkens working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Aitkens sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Capriotti's guard.

Aitkens wants to lay and pray for a moment but Capriotti keeps working.
Aitkens looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Capriotti is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Aitkens pulls his head out easily.
Aitkens thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Capriotti is looking to improve his position.

Aitkens thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Capriotti's head.
Aitkens tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Capriotti.

Capriotti is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Aitkens pulls his head out easily.

Capriotti tries to roll over but Aitkens keeps him under control.
Aitkens uses his free foot to push down on Capriotti's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Capriotti.

Aitkens misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aitkens sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Capriotti sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Capriotti is wriggling around trying to escape.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Aitkens looking to control but Capriotti is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aitkens jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Nice straight punches there by Aitkens. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Aitkens.
Aitkens misses with an uppercut.
Aitkens jabs Capriotti right on the nose. Capriotti blinks but takes it well.
Aitkens lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Capriotti backs up against the cage.

Capriotti closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Capriotti is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Capriotti is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Aitkens is just riding it out for now. Capriotti eventually gives up the hold.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Aitkens accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Aitkens pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Capriotti back to the cage. Aitkens follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Capriotti drops back, looking for a kneebar! Aitkens looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Aitkens looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Aitkens!

I would just about give that final round to Nikolay Capriotti.
