Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Stratus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Demian Maia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jay Stratus!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stratus gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Maia to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Stratus keeping moving, preventing Maia from controlling successfully.
Maia won't allow Stratus to sweep him here.
Maia trying to control the position from guard on top but Stratus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Maia sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Demian Maia.
Maia moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Good leg kick by Stratus there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Stratus attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Maia doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Stratus misses with the combination.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Stratus cracks Maia with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Maia closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Maia lands in his opponent's guard.
Maia drops back looking for a leg! Stratus is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stratus manages to kick Maia off! Maia jumps back into Stratus's guard.
Maia wants to control from the top but Stratus keeps moving.
Maia is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Stratus is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Maia thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Maia advances to half guard.
Maia wants to work for an arm triangle but Stratus is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Stratus is defending against the submission attempts here by Maia.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Maia is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Maia decides to stand and escape the position.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Stratus works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Stratus lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Jay Stratus is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Stratus misses with an uppercut. Maia saw that one coming.
Stratus feints a jab promting Maia to slip. Stratus then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Maia slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Stratus connects with a jab.
Maia tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Stratus swivels and escapes.
Stratus throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Stratus just misses with a punch to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Maia.
Sloppy strikes from Maia. Those never looked like landing.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Maia drives through with a takedown into guard.
Maia drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Maia jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Maia is breathing heavily.
Stratus wants to stand up but Maia is controlling him.
Maia is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Maia stands up from Stratus's guard - Maia perhaps looking for a knockout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stratus connects with an inside leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Demian Maia dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Stratus lands with a nice body punch.
Maia shoots in for a takedown but Stratus shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Stratus looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Stratus misses with a wild combination.
Stratus motions for Maia to come forward. Stratus throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Jay Stratus seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Stratus misses with a double jab.
Stratus walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Maia checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Stratus scores with a jab to the body.
Maia has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Stratus.
Stratus fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Maia on the side of the head.
Stratus cracks Maia with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
That kick from Stratus tenderised Maia's leg. Maia is trying to keep his angry face on.
Maia showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Stratus.
Stratus misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Maia.

Maia drives through with a takedown into guard.
Maia is standing up over Stratus. Stratus looks to escape but Maia dives into side control.
Stratus is breathing heavily.
Stratus is looking to reverse the position.
Demian Maia overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Maia working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Maia has an Americana. Stratus didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Maia is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Maia hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Demian Maia!
