Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Trang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Krzysztof Slodzinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matt Trang has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Matt Trang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Krzysztof Slodzinski!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trang closes this distance looking for a takedown but Slodzinski circles away.
Trang circles away from the clinch attempt

and Trang counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Slodzinski's guard now.
Trang stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Slodzinski swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Trang wants to control from the top but Slodzinski keeps moving.

Slodzinski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Trang. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Trang is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Trang thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Slodzinski is adopting a defensive guard.

Slodzinski wants to stand and escape but Trang is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Trang drops back looking for a leg! Slodzinski is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Slodzinski manages to kick Trang off! Trang jumps back into Slodzinski's guard.
Trang wants to control from the top but Slodzinski keeps moving.

Trang drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Trang jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Trang is looking to work some ground and pound but Slodzinski has wrist control.

Slodzinski is striking but Trang is not phased and passes to half guard.
Trang prevents Slodzinski from improving his position.

Trang stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Slodzinski throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Trang shoots in and gets a takedown into Slodzinski's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Slodzinski will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Trang wants to pass the guard but Slodzinski is keeping the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Slodzinski can do anything to dispel that myth.

Slodzinski is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Trang is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Slodzinski stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Slodzinski wants it to stay on the feet.

and Trang counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Trang has control of Slodzinski's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Slodzinski regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Trang misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Slodzinski fails with an attempt to clinch.
Trang leaves Slodzinski with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Slodzinski closes the distance and pushes Trang back into the cage.
Slodzinski is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Trang to keep the fight standing.
Trang could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Nice body punch from Slodzinski - that landed with a thud.
Slodzinski lands a knee to the head.
Slodzinski lands a hook to the side of the head.
Slodzinski lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Trang backwards.
Slodzinski prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Trang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Still in the clinch, Slodzinski scores with a nice short uppercut.
Slodzinski is pressed up against the cage. Trang has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Slodzinski down to the mat. Slodzinski avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Trang misses with a looping right.
Slodzinski wants to clinch up but Trang keeps it at a distance.
Slodzinski shoots for a takedown but Trang saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Slodzinski tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Trang manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Slodzinski is looking to clinch but Trang is avoiding it.

Trang shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Slodzinski's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Slodzinski is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Trang off and has taken his back!
Slodzinski is trying to stick to Trang's back but Trang is turning into Slodzinski. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Slodzinski's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Trang.

Trang might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Slodzinski is looking to stand up but Trang isn't so interested in that idea.
Trang tries to free his leg and advance position but Slodzinski is retaining full guard.
Slodzinski wants to stand and escape but Trang is having none of it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Trang thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Matt Trang will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Slodzinski tries to clinch but Trang moves out of range.
Slodzinski tries to score a power double leg takedown but Trang sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Slodzinski somewhat.

Trang dives in and scores a takedown into Slodzinski's guard.
Slodzinski wants to stand up but Trang is controlling him.
Trang wants to control from the top but Slodzinski keeps moving.

Trang sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Slodzinski's guard.

Trang in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Slodzinski tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Trang!
