Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Rogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Burt Byrd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rogan comes to the cage accompanied by AC/DC - TNT. Burt Byrd has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Rogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Burt Byrd!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Byrd moves to clinch but Rogan breaks away
and Rogan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Rogan looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Rogan thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Byrd if he has to take too many more of those.
Rogan misses with a leg kick

and Byrd counters with a crisp one two that drops Rogan! Byrd thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Rogan to his feet! Rogan is in big trouble!


Rogan is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Oh Rogan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rogan is trying to drag Byrd to the mat but Byrd just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Rogan working hard to break the clinch.
Rogan seems to have got his legs back now.
Byrd pressing his opponent against the cage.
Byrd continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.
Rogan tries to pull guard but Byrd won't allow it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rogan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Byrd tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rogan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Byrd circles away quickly and effectively.
Byrd fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rogan throws a right hand that misses

and Byrd counters with a shoot takedown. Rogan fights it but they end up in guard.

Rogan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Byrd gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Byrd loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Rogan is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Byrd rolls with it to try and escape but Rogan cranks on the arm and Byrd is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jim Rogan!
Jim Rogan looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'THAT'S HOW WE DO IT!'.
