The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shi clinches up against the cage.
Shi stalling.

Shi pulls guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Thompson trying to control but Shi is working from the bottom.
Thompson looking to sit in guard and control but Shi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Shi gets to his feet - Thompson follows without any prompting.
No luck for Thompson with that takedown attempt.

Thompson tries to clinch up but Shi circles away and keeps his distance.

Shi drives through with a takedown into Thompson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Thompson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Thompson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Shi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Shi is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Thompson!
Shi lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Thompson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Shi controlling the pace for now.
Shi lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Shi is landing with some decent strikes but Thompson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Thompson is rocked!
Shi postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Thompson badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Shi around the waist but Shi pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Shi is the winner by TKO! Shi jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
