PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bob Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vanlal Hneknaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hneknaa has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Vanlal Hneknaa looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bob Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Vanlal Hneknaa!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Richard Clark and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith thuds his shin into the meat of Hneknaa's side.
Hneknaa looks gassed!
Hneknaa displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smith.
Smith shoots for a takedown but Hneknaa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown but Hneknaa manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smith's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bob Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Hneknaa, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Hneknaa against the cage but Hneknaa circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Vanlal Hneknaa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Smith gets control of Hneknaa's arms and successfully pulls guard. Smith will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hneknaa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Smith has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Smith doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Smith looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Smith manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Smith stands up from mount. Strange move.

Hneknaa tries to keep at a distance but Smith has taken the fight into the clinch.

Smith has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hneknaa is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Smith tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Smith lands an elbow just above Hneknaa 's eye.
Smith tries to score a body lock takedown but Hneknaa shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Hneknaa looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Hneknaa is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Smith obliges.
Hneknaa gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Smith.
Smith is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Smith pulls Hneknaa into guard.
Smith bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hneknaa's guard.
Smith is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Smith stands and steps away. Hneknaa gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown but Hneknaa manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smith's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Smith moves in looking to clinch but Hneknaa pushes him off.

and Hneknaa counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Hneknaa throws a right and a left that Smith avoids nicely.
Smith fails to land the takedown.
Hneknaa on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Smith.
Smith misses with a jab, cross combination.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hneknaa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Smith shoots in and drives through. Hneknaa sprawls well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A nice inside leg kick there by Smith. That's going to slow Hneknaa down.
Hneknaa is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.

Hneknaa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hneknaa throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Hneknaa jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Hneknaa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Smith rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hneknaa moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
