Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Miguel Moniz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Reima Jokinen!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jokinen misses with a double jab.
Jokinen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Moniz tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Jokinen throws a sloppy head kick and Moniz moves out of range easily.
Moniz shoots in for a takedown but Jokinen shows good takedown defense.

Moniz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Moniz lands in his opponent's guard.
Moniz wants to pass the guard but Jokinen is keeping the position.
Jokinen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moniz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Moniz is nestled in close to Jokinen, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Moniz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jokinen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Moniz lands a big shot there that rocks Jokinen but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Moniz jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Jokinen is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Jokinen and Moniz has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Moniz pushes Jokinen off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Horrible takedown by Moniz or perhaps it was just good defense by Jokinen which made him look bad.

Jokinen throws a leg kick which misses Moniz's front leg but catches the back leg as Moniz tries to avoid it.

and Jokinen makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Reima Jokinen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Moniz dives in and grabs Jokinen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jokinen pushes down on Moniz's head and hops out.
Jokinen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A nice inside leg kick there by Jokinen. That's going to slow Moniz down.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jokinen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jokinen slaps away a takedown attempt from Moniz, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Moniz shoots in looking for a takedown but Jokinen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Moniz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Miguel Moniz showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Moniz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
