The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendon digs a good hook to Shimabukuro's body.

Mendon tries to throw a body punch but Shimabukuro avoids it by throwing Mendon back against the cage.
Shimabukuro is trying to maintain a safe position but Mendon gets an underhook and turns Shimabukuro into the cage.
Mendon tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Shimabukuro's elbow.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Mendon creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Shimabukuro changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mendon fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Shimabukuro looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mendon is fending him off so far but Shimabukuro persists. Nope, Mendon circles away and we're back to standing.

Mendon throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Shimabukuros head.
Mendon digs a right hand underneath Shimabukuro's ribcage. Shimabukuro let out a lung full of air as it connected.
