Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeff Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Harry Pitts!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pitts misses with the combination.

Smith fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pitts, pushing him back against the cage.
Pitts looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Smith is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Pitts decides to pull guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Smith looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Pitts manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Smith manages to get himself to full guard.
Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pitts on the ground.

Smith on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Smith tries to get out of the position.
Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Smith has one foot on Pitts's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Pitts scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Pitts rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The fight stays on the outside here - Pitts looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smith slips a jab and a cross from Pitts.
Pitts tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance.
No joy there for Pitts, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Smith moves into range and clinches up with Pitts.
Pitts stalling in the clinch but Smith improves position.

Smith breaks from the clinch.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Smith, as that shot connected.
Pitts throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pitts off to one side.
Pitts closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away.
Pitts fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jeff Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harry Pitts.
Pitts throws a right hand that Smith ducks under and follows up with a left that Smith also avoids with ease.

Pitts is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Smith.


It looks like Harry Pitts has been cut.
Pitts will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Smith remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Pitts tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smith swivels and escapes.
Pitts tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Pitts tries a head kick but it misses.

Smith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pitts looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Pitts takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Pitts seems a little lost for a moment, as Smith dominates the positioning.
Pitts is trying to control Smith's posture but Smith avoids it.

Smith is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pitts knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Jeff Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pitts is looking for a sweep.

Smith decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Pitts tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Pitts jumps guard but Smith stands there with Pitts around his waist. Pitts gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Pitts shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Smith eats them both and turns towards Pitts to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Pitts just misses with a punch to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pitts tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smith sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pitts somewhat.

Smith rushes Pitts and presses him up against the cage.

Smith turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Smith manages to end up in side control.

Smith goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Pitts rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Smith's guard! Nice work there by Pitts!
Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Pitts wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.

Smith uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Pitts wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance.

Pitts lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Smith circles away quickly and effectively.

Pitts lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Pitts.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Smith wants to control from the top but Pitts keeps moving.

Smith decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Smith closes the distance and pushes Pitts back into the cage.
Smith throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Pitts tries to stall but Smith uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Smith jumps guard and drags Pitts to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Pitts drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Smith manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pitts has Smith in his guard.

Pitts is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Smith is aware though and is defending well.
Smith slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Pitts is keeping the position.

Smith lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Pitts working for a triangle but Smith defends it easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pitts is working an open guard so Smith takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jeff Smith showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smith, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
