Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kai Avares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michak Ropuia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ropuia comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Here comes the pain - Slayer kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The key to victory for Kai Avares has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avares slaps away a takedown attempt from Ropuia, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Avares wants to clinch up but Ropuia keeps it at a distance.
Ropuia will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Ropuia closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Avares did well to prevent Ropuia getting side control.

Ropuia is working for a submission of some sort.
Avares is trying to get back to full guard.
Avares might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Avares is pressing down on Ropuia's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Avares is trying to control the position but Ropuia postures up.
Avares looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ropuia is one step ahead there.
Avares controls Ropuia momentarily but Ropuia frees himself.

Ropuia is keen to just control but Avares is a slippery customer.
Ropuia is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Avares is squirming around, avoiding Ropuia's attempts to control the action.
Ropuia wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

Ropuia with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Avares is desperately trying to improve his position but Ropuia has a good base and remains in mount.

Ropuia swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
