Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alpha Omega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roberto Figueroa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Figueroa has chosen Bandolero as his entrance music. Alpha Omega looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alpha Omega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roberto Figueroa!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Jonathan Paton and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Figueroa has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Omega regains guard immediately.

Figueroa not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Figueroa wants to pass the guard but Omega is keeping the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Roberto Figueroa hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Figueroa looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Omega is looking to escape.

Figueroa is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Omega wants to control but Figueroa passes into side.
Figueroa is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Omega will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Figueroa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Figueroa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Figueroa content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Figueroa's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Figueroa uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Omega.

Figueroa scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Figueroa is taking a breather. Omega says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Figueroa wants to pass to mount but Omega is defending the position.

You can see the frustration on Omega's face as Figueroa controls the position.

Omega tries to bench press Figueroa off him but Figueroa keeps the position.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Roberto Figueroa was stalling too much, according to the referee.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Figueroa.
Omega displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Figueroa.
Alpha Omega has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roberto Figueroa.

Omega has taken the fight to the clinch.

Figueroa pulls guard effortlessly.

Figueroa is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Figueroa throws his legs up looking for a submission but Omega uses it to pass to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roberto Figueroa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Omega scores with a nice head shot.

Figueroa changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Omega looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Omega is trying to escape the position but Figueroa is controlling the position.
Omega gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Figueroa tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Omega regains half guard.

Figueroa is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Let's hope that Figueroa has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Roberto Figueroa hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Omega throws out a loose jab but Figueroa uses good head movement to avoid it.

Alpha Omega has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roberto Figueroa.

Omega clinches up with Figueroa and pushes him back against the cage.

Figueroa wants to take the fight to the mat but Omega manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Figueroa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Figueroa drops down looking for an ankle pick but Omega pulls his leg out and moves away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Omega lands a body shot.

And that's the end of the fight!
Roberto Figueroa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Figueroa winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
