Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sebastian Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Woods!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sebastian Miller!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Anthony Taglia and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Miller, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Woods fails with the takedown

and Miller counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Woods's guard now.
Miller won't allow Woods to sweep him here.
Woods trying to control the position.
Miller not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Miller lands a couple of digs.
Woods keeping moving, preventing Miller from controlling successfully.
Miller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Miller's corner is telling him to maintain position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sebastian Miller hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Woods takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Woods looks to clinch

and Miller counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Woods slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Miller pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Woods is keeping the position for now.
Woods looking to hit a scissor sweep but Miller is one step ahead there.

Miller stands up from Woods's guard - Miller perhaps looking for a knockout.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Miller shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Woods is refusing to be controlled, as Miller sits in half guard.
Miller slows the pace down in half guard.
Miller tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Woods.

Woods trying to control here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Woods throws a sloppy head kick and Miller moves out of range easily.
Woods fails to land the takedown.
Woods is breathing heavily.
Miller moves in looking to clinch but Woods pushes him off.
Woods closes the distance but Miller moves to the side

and Miller counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Woods!

Miller landing punches.
Miller controlling the position easily from mount.
Miller's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Woods working to try and regain half guard.
Miller scoring with strikes but Woods is staying in there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Woods tries to control the position but Miller now has his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Miller shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Miller postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Woods to stand up.

Miller closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Woods is trying to get back to full guard.
Woods wants to control but Miller is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Miller gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Miller shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Woods as he jumps to the side.

Woods looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Miller is controlling Woods's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Woods is trying to control. Miller wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miller trying to control but Woods postures up.
Woods blocks the strikes from Miller.
Miller gets full guard.
Woods wants to stand and escape but instead Miller has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Woods wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Miller manages to pass to side control.
Miller seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Miller looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Woods is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Miller trying to mount his opponent but Woods defends it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Woods wants to get back to full guard but Miller has passed into side control.

Miller decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Miller feints and as Woods raises his hands in defense, Miller changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Miller stands and steps away. Woods gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Miller manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Woods on his heels. He'll look to pass Woods's guard now, I'm sure.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Miller controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Woods looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sebastian Miller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Miller gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Miller scores with a shot to the side of Woods's head.
Woods goes for a takedown in the clinch but Miller prevents it.

Miller gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Woods regains guard.
Miller slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Woods has his hands on Miller's head, controlling the position.

Woods is looking for a triangle but Miller pushes his legs off easily.

Miller wants to control from the top but Woods keeps moving.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Miller sitting in guard, not really doing much.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sebastian Miller.
Woods swats away the attempt to clinch by Miller.

Miller shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Woods is trying to defend but Miller finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Miller is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Miller is pressing down on Woods's thigh, looking to free his foot. Woods is holding on for now.

Miller wants to work for an arm triangle but Woods is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Miller is thwarting Woods's attempts to control the position.

Miller is keen to just control but Woods is a slippery customer.
Woods wants to get back to full guard.
Woods is working hard here to advance position.
Well, if Miller is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Woods keeps the fight on the outside.
John Woods has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sebastian Miller is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
John Woods is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Woods tries to sprawl but Miller drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Sebastian Miller comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Miller has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
