The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santoro tries to clinch up but Gracie circles away and keeps his distance.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Gracie has eaten all the pies!
Santoro tries to close the distance and clinch but Gracie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gracie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Santoro is fending him off so far but Gracie persists. Nope, Santoro circles away and we're back to standing.

Oscar Nicolas Santoro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Royce Gracie.

Gracie darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

It looks like Gracie might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Gracie is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Santoro on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Santoro tries to get out of the position.

Gracie is looking for a kimura here.

Santoro wants to improve his position but Gracie is controlling well.
Santoro knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
Santoro is trying to control but can't.
Gracie looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Gracie looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Santoro with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Santoro has hold of Gracie's hands but Gracie slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Gracie has hold of Santoro's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Santoro tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Gracie cranks the arm and Santoro screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Santoro, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
