PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Korter Poundre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucifer Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Poundre kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Did My Time. Johnson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Devil's Own. Lucifer Johnson looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Korter Poundre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lucifer Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Johnson.
Poundre gets back to half guard.
Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Poundre is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Poundre is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they both work up against the meshing.
Johnson trying to control from half guard but Poundre is working away.
Johnson is just content to waste time from the top position. Poundre takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Poundre looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Lucifer Johnson.
Poundre doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Johnson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Poundre is breathing heavily.
Johnson lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Poundre jumps guard but Johnson stands there with Poundre around his waist. Poundre gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Poundre fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Korter Poundre. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Johnson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Poundre can't fight it off and eventually Johnson manages to take the fight to the floor. Poundre looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Poundre working for submissions but it's allowed Johnson to get to half guard.

Poundre is looking to improve his position.

Johnson is nestled in close to Poundre, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Poundre has hold of Johnson's hands but Johnson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Poundre wants to control but Johnson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Let's hope that Johnson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Lucifer Johnson.

Johnson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Well, if Johnson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Johnson decides to stand up.
Poundre rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Johnson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Poundre is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Poundre wants to control but Johnson postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucifer Johnson dominated that round.
That's time! Poundre's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Poundre throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Poundre gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Johnson content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Poundre has locked up a guillotine! Poundre's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Johnson is holding on here and Poundre must be using up a lot of energy. Johnson has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Poundre gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Korter Poundre!
