PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dustin Duguay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendrick Hardison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duguay comes to the cage accompanied by Chumbawamba - Tubthumping. Hardison has chosen Get Low as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dustin Duguay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kendrick Hardison!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hardison throws a wild body kick that Duguay sees coming a mile off.
Hardison stuffs the takedown attempt from Duguay. Duguay gets slowly back to his feet.

Hardison drives through with a takedown into Duguay's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Hardison looking to sit in guard and control but Duguay gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hardison keeping moving, preventing Duguay from controlling successfully.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hardison can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hardison keeps Duguay under control for a moment.

Hardison is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Duguay is staying active.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kendrick Hardison wasn't active enough on the ground.

Duguay shoots in and gets a takedown into Hardison's guard.

Hardison escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Duguay gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hardison is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hardison is trying to keep Duguay in close.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hardison is adopting a defensive guard.
Duguay trying to control the position from guard on top but Hardison is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Dustin Duguay just wasn't active enough.
Duguay shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hardison defends it nicely.

Hardison controlling the position well.

Duguay is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hardison defends it well.
Hardison trying to hold on to Duguay's head to control him but Duguay postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Duguay is trying to control. Hardison wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dustin Duguay will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hardison stuffs the takedown.
Duguay walks forward, straight into a front kick from Hardison.

Hardison feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hardison not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Duguay looking to control but Hardison passes into half guard.
Duguay wants to control but Hardison is keeping busy.
Hardison is taking a breather. Duguay says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Kendrick Hardison has got the better of the ground game so far.

Duguay is positioning himself well to prevent Hardison advancing to mount.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
No luck for Duguay with that takedown attempt.
Hardison misses with the combination.
Dustin Duguay is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Duguay gets a double leg takedown into Hardison's guard.

Hardison is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hardison is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Duguay advances position into side control!
Hardison tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Duguay wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hardison is not content to let Duguay control the position.
Hardison really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Duguay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Duguay thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Duguay slows the pace down.

Duguay tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Duguay has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hardison tries to buck Duguay off but Duguay is having none of it.

Hardison is looking for a sweep.

Duguay working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Hardison is looking to reverse the position.
Hardison can't do much from the bottom here.
Duguay wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hardison keeps working.
Hardison is looking for a sweep.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dustin Duguay will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Hardison uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Duguay.
Hardison throws a series of punches but Duguay moves out of range.
Duguay shoots for a takedown but Hardison saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Duguay will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hardison shoots in looking for a takedown. Duguay tries to sprawl out of it but Hardison keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Duguay manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Dustin Duguay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Duguay manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hardison on his heels. He'll look to pass Hardison's guard now, I'm sure.

Duguay drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Duguay seems to have locked his on tight now - Hardison screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Duguay, as he picks up the win!
