The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mack throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lachsford's waist but Lachsford gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mack off to one side.
Mack misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Lachsford stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lachsford wants it to stay on the feet.
John Lachsford has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeremy Mack.

Lachsford feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lachsford avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Lachsford tries to free his leg and advance position but Mack is retaining full guard.
Mack is looking to stand up but Lachsford isn't so interested in that idea.

Lachsford drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mack looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mack looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mack!

Lachsford is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Lachsford is controlling Mack's trapped leg to prevent Mack from advancing to side control.
Lachsford is looking for a sweep. Mack is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Mack is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lachsford is on top in guard.

Mack is looking to sinch up a triangle. Lachsford throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Mack's body to avoid the submission. Mack has instead reached around Lachsford's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Mack arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
