The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maija closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming North to the mat! North manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Maija wants to pass the guard but North is keeping the position.
Maija seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
North really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maija. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
