PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hubert Hughs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Dravinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hubert Hughs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sean Dravinski!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughs keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dravinski.

Hughs has taken the fight to the clinch.
Dravinski tries to break free but Hughs pushes him back against the cage.
Hughs has Dravinski pressed against the cage, preventing Dravinski from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Hughs has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Dravinski is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Dravinski drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hughs gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Dravinski is trying to stall.

Hughs breaks the clinch.
Dravinski tries a head kick but it misses.

Hughs changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dravinski looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Hughs in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Hughs goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Dravinski rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hughs's guard! Nice work there by Dravinski!
Hughs not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Hughs preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hughs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dravinski trying to control the position from guard on top but Hughs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hughs has momentary wrist control but Dravinski slips an elbow through the middle.

Hughs has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dravinski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hughs throws his legs up looking for a submission but Dravinski uses it to pass to side control.
Hughs gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Hughs is concentrating on defense, preventing Dravinski from advancing position.

Hughs manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dravinski wants to pass the guard but Hughs is keeping the position.
Dravinski looking to sit in guard and control but Hughs gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Dravinski wants to control the position but Hughs says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hughs is keen to just control but Dravinski is a slippery customer.

Hughs is working for a submission of some sort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hughs slows the pace down in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hubert Hughs dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Dravinski has managed to clinch.
Hughs looking to slow down the pace here.
Hughs blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Dravinski is looking to break free of the clinch but Hughs has double underhooks.
Dravinski is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Dravinski looking to slow down the pace here.
Dravinski tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hughs smiles and moves away.

Dravinski throws a sloppy head kick and Hughs moves out of range easily.

Hughs bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Hughs tries for a kimura but Dravinski is defending well.
Dravinski stops Hughs from passing to mount.
Hughs wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dravinski keeps working.

Hughs is looking to take a break and control but Dravinski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hughs landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

Dravinski struggling a bit here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dravinski might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hughs kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Hughs is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Dravinski will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Hughs grinds an elbow into Dravinski's temple.

Dravinski is looking to reverse the position.
Hughs trying to control the position but Dravinski is working away.
Dravinski takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Dravinski tries to improve position but can't.
Dravinski is breathing heavily.
Hughs is looking to take a break and control but Dravinski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hubert Hughs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Dravinski can't do much from the bottom here.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Dravinski is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hughs asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hughs is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Dravinski will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Hughs lands an elbow.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hughs content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Hughs in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Hughs's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Hughs shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hughs was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hughs can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dravinski is looking to escape.

Dravinski bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Dravinski takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Dravinski is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Hughs has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Dravinski is looking to defend but Hughs has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Dravinski! Hughs pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Dravinski taps out and this one is all over!
