The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Hermias.
Hermias swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Garvey does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Garvey throws a predictable looking body shot
and Hermias counters with a straight right hand.
Garvey jabs Hermias to the body, keeping him at a distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Garvey looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Garvey uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hermias.

Hermias avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Andrea Hermias seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Garvey ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hermias moves away.
Garvey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hermias paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Garvey's jab looks to have found its range, popping Hermias under the eye.
Hermias looks to land a right hand but Garvey moved out of range.
Hermias throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hermias throws a looping overhand right but Garvey ducks down to avoid it.
Garvey misses with an uppercut. Hermias saw that one coming.
Hermias tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Garvey was well out of range. Poor timing from Hermias.
Garvey throws a sloppy head kick

and Hermias counters with a single leg into guard. Garvey didn't expect that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hermias throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Garvey works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Garvey looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hermias is one step ahead there.

Hermias tries to free his leg and advance position but Garvey is retaining full guard.

Garvey manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Hermias tries to lock up and control but Garvey gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Hermias is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Garvey's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Garvey's back!
