PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Felipe Lebron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Rik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rik is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The walking dead. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lebron tries to keep at a distance but Rik has taken the fight into the clinch.
Lebron wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rik has him pressed against the cage.

Lebron has had enough of the clinch but Rik keeps him there for the moment.
Lebron is trying to break the clinch but Rik is controlling him.

It looks like Felipe Lebron has been cut.

Lebron wants to take the fight to the mat but Rik manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Lebron is breathing heavily.

Rik turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Rik manages to end up in side control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Rik lands a nice forearm strike.
Oh Lebron is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Lebron manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Lebron seems to have got his legs back now.

Rik kicks off Lebron and gets to his feet.

Rik has Lebron up against the cage in a clinch.

Rik has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Lebron regains guard immediately.

Lebron working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rik doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rik manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rik stands and steps away. Lebron gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

A looping hook to the body misses from Lebron. Rik does a little dance to reset his feet.

Rik clinches up with Lebron and pushes him back against the cage.

Felipe Lebron's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Rik connects with a nasty looking knee right to Lebron's face.

Rik manages to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rik is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lebron is controlling him.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rik can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lebron drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lebron jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Lebron tries to free his leg and advance position but Rik is retaining full guard.

Rik is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Lebron jumps guard but Rik stands there with Lebron around his waist. Lebron gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Lebron wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Jeez, Felipe Lebron's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Felipe Lebron's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Shane Rik!
Shane Rik spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
