Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Guy McKain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Rojo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rojo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: You're Going Down. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Guy McKain!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Miguel Rojo!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rojo closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
McKain jabs Rojo right on the nose. Rojo blinks but takes it well.
Rojo throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Rojo throws a push kick but McKain slaps the foot to one side.
Rojo sizes up McKain with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Rojo digs a good hook to McKain's body.
McKain fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Rojo on the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
McKain lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Rojo is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
McKain just misses with a punch to the body.

It looks like Guy McKain has been cut.

McKain shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. McKain showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McKain seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Rojo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McKain is working away from the top position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Guy McKain just wasn't active enough.
Rojo walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

McKain gets a takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McKain in particular looking to stall.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Rojo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McKain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McKain throws a strike but Rojo avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
McKain slips nicely into half guard.

Rojo tries to lock up and control but McKain gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

McKain throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

McKain closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
McKain tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
McKain throws an elbow but Rojo slips to the side and avoids it well.
McKain tries to score with some ground and pound. Rojo controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

McKain tries for a kimura but Rojo is defending well.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
McKain is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rojo can do to turn this around?

The referee asks McKain politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. McKain prefers to stall for the moment though.

McKain remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

McKain goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Rojo turns into him and now he's in McKain's guard.

McKain slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
McKain passes Rojo's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

McKain uses his free foot to push down on Rojo's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rojo.

McKain has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee warns Rojo that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

McKain seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rojo for as long as he can get away with.

McKain lands with a nice body punch.
Rojo pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

McKain cracks Rojo with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
