The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nikoteen tries to clinch up but Lakes circles away and keeps his distance.
Lakes slips a jab and a cross from Nikoteen.
Nikoteen throws a head kick that misses

and Lakes counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lakes.

Lakes stands up from Nikoteen's guard - Lakes perhaps looking for a knockout.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Lakes.
Lakes fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lakes lands a head kick. Nikoteen smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nikoteen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Marcellous Nikoteen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nikoteen clinches up with Lakes and pushes him back against the cage.
Nikoteen wants to break free but Lakes has control.
Nikoteen gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Lakes.
Lakes drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nikoteen stops a takedown attempt from Lakes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yama Lakes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lakes has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Nikoteen after a bit of a struggle.
Still in the clinch, Nikoteen scores with a nice short uppercut.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Lakes drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Nikoteen gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Nikoteen drops Lakes onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Lakes is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Nikoteen pulls guard effortlessly.
Oh Lakes is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nikoteen lands a good elbow from the bottom.

Nikoteen throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Nikoteen is pulling down on Lakes's head. It's preventing any offense from Lakes, at least for the moment.

Lakes stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Nikoteen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lakes shoots in and drives through. Nikoteen sprawls well.
Lakes is breathing heavily.
Nikoteen cracks Lakes with a left hook right on the temple and Lakes goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Nikoteen lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Lakes is OK!
