The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Uchida shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bannon is trying to defend but Uchida finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Uchida is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Bannon moves into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Uchida passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Uchida thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Uchida tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Uchida has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Uchida throws a strike aimed at the side of Bannon's head but Bannon avoids it well.
Bannon sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Uchida throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Uchida is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bannon is just riding it out for now. Uchida eventually gives up the hold.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Uchida is working for a kimura but Bannon is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bannon wants to control but Uchida is keeping busy.
