PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyson Fury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes into the arena with Everybody Knows blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyson Fury!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones looks for a takedown but Fury sprawls well.
Nice takedown defense from Fury. No joy for Jones on that attempt.
Fury wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.
Fury just misses with a punch to the body.

Jones gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Fury is taking a breather. Jones says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Fury thows a huge punch but Jones dodges it nicely.

Jones is looking to control Fury's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jones avoid being mounted?
Fury prevents Jones from improving his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jones wants to control but Fury is keeping busy.
Jones wants to improve his position but Fury is controlling well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Fury moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off.
Jones stuffs the takedown.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt
and Fury counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

The fight stays on the outside here - Fury looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Fury rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fury is one step ahead there.
Fury is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fury slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Jones bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fury's guard.
Fury has momentary wrist control but Jones slips an elbow through the middle.
Fury has control of Jones's left arm, preventing Jones from doing any damage.
Jones postures up in Fury's guard and throws a big left but Fury blocks it.
Jones trying to control but Fury is working from the bottom.
Fury really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fury tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Fury utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyson Fury dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Fury looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Fury persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.
Fury is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.
Fury tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Jones escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fury gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jones can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Fury controls the pace.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Fury is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jones Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Fury's back instead.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Fury is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Jones is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jones has the hooks in. Fury is starting to panic. He's trying to push off one of the legs but he's left his neck open to attack. Jones passes his arm under Fury's neck and tightens up a rear naked choke! This one is surely all over! Yes, Fury taps!
