Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andrew Mathews!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Eddie Farnsworth and Reed Andrews.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mathews missing with a left hand there. Onizuka was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Mathews slips under a jab.
Mathews throws a poor cross that misses
and Onizuka counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Mathews pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Mathews throws an overhand right that lands on Onizuka's shoulder, as Onizuka tries to avoid the shot.
Onizuka throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Onizuka closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Onizuka throws a right and a left that both miss.
Onizuka throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mathews counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Mathews throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Mathews throws a looping overhand right but Onizuka ducks down to avoid it.
A jab from Mathews misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Mathews misses the target.
Eikichi Onizuka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Onizuka uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mathews.
Onizuka blocks a jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Onizuka misses with a few strikes there.

Mathews swings widly with a right hand

and Onizuka counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Onizuka lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Onizuka working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Mathews wants to get back to full guard.
Onizuka throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Onizuka thows a huge punch but Mathews dodges it nicely.
Onizuka looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mathews with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Onizuka wants to control but Mathews is keeping him busy.
Onizuka lands strikes from half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Onizuka moves nicely into side control.

Onizuka has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Onizuka is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Mathews tries to bench press Onizuka off him but Onizuka keeps the position.
Mathews is working to avoid the ground and pound but Onizuka connects with a decent elbow.

Onizuka lands a strong strike to the head of Mathews. That's dazed him! Onizuka looking to finish here. Mathews is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Onizuka lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
