And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rafik Valeev!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Saam Ante and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schweinsteiger shoots in for a takedown but Valeev shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Valeev drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Schweinsteiger is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Valeev off and has taken his back!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Schweinsteiger is looking for a triangle but Valeev pushes his legs off easily.

Valeev should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Schweinsteiger escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Valeev gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Valeev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schweinsteiger swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Valeev is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Valeev wants to control from the top but Schweinsteiger keeps moving.

Valeev must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Schweinsteiger working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Valeev doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Valeev manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Valeev passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Valeev postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Valeev tries to get to his feet but Schweinsteiger is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Valeev in his guard.
Schweinsteiger wants to get back to his feet but Valeev is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.
Schweinsteiger wants to sweep here but Valeev controlling him for the moment.

Schweinsteiger is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Valeev rolls with it to try and escape but Schweinsteiger cranks on the arm and Valeev is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Kurt Schweinsteiger decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
