The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laitinen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stevens was well out of range. Poor timing from Laitinen.
Stevens turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Stevens throws a body punch but Laitinen moves out of range.
Laitinen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Stevens counters with an outside leg kick.

Laitinen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stevens can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Stevens must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Stevens got a little sloppy there for a moment and Laitinen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stevens has managed to get both his arms back between Laitinen's legs - danger averted.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Stevens connects with a body shot that sends Laitinen's belly button to the back.

and Stevens counters by moving into the clinch.
Stevens lands a damaging elbow.
Stevens tries a knee to the head but Laitinen blocks it.

Laitinen throws an overhand right that lands on Stevens's shoulder, as Stevens tries to avoid the shot.
Laitinen drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Laitinen is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Stevens's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

and Stevens counters with a low kick, right behind Laitinen 's knee.
Laitinen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Stevens uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Victor Stevens is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Stevens lands a big head kick that sends Laitinen to the canvas! Stevens follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
