The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Gomi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gomi looks to land a combination. Stien sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

It looks like Ben Stien has been cut.
Stien misses the jab.
Gomi looks for a takedown but Stien sprawls well.

Stien bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Gomi closes the distance and clinches up with Stien, looking for a takedown. Gomi pushes Stien against the cage but Stien circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Yoshiro Gomi.

That was a close round but I would say that Yoshiro Gomi will probably get the nod.

Gomi dives in and grabs Stien's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stien pushes down on Gomi's head and hops out.

Stien throws a hook to the side of Gomi's head but Gomi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
