Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy shoots in but Kong avoids the takedown attempt easily.

McCarthy drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kong looking to hit a scissor sweep but McCarthy is one step ahead there.
McCarthy looking to sit in guard and control but Kong gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
McCarthy wants to sweep here but Kong controlling him for the moment.
Kong trying to control the position from guard on top but McCarthy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kong postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McCarthy pulls Kong in close to prevent any damage.
McCarthy keeping moving, preventing Kong from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kong tries to free his leg and advance position but McCarthy is retaining full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kong tests McCarthy's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Kong looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Kong gets the takedown into side control.
Kong tries to advance position but instead McCarthy slips a leg back in to half guard.

McCarthy looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Kong is thwarting McCarthy's attempts to control the position.
McCarthy manages to get to full guard.
Kong has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Kong working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

McCarthy manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

McCarthy is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Kong has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Kong takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
McCarthy wants to take his opponent's back but Kong doesn't allow it.

Kong defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from McCarthy.
Kong tries to lock up and control but McCarthy gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
McCarthy looking to control and managing it successfully.
McCarthy wants to control the pace but Kong is squirming around nicely.
McCarthy controlling the position easily from mount.

McCarthy with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kong is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
McCarthy works his way to his opponent's back.
McCarthy controlling well, preventing Kong from escaping the position.

McCarthy is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Kong has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but McCarthy has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Kong taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. McCarthy doesn't care though - he's delighted!
