Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Tyler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Philip King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Heretic Anthem. Philip King has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jake Tyler's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Tyler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Philip King!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyler has a takedown stuffed.
King throws a leg kick but Tyler checks it.
Tyler misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Tyler shoots in for a double leg but King sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Tyler. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tyler shoots for a double leg takedown but King sprawls well. He's pushed Tyler's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Tyler closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Tyler is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Tyler seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but King does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
King keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Tyler tries to pass the half guard into mount. King knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Tyler is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Tyler not landing any meaningful shots this time.
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tyler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Tyler wants to take a breather but King is having none of it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Tyler is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Tyler stops King from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tyler controls the pace.
Tyler is looking to work some ground and pound but King has wrist control.
Tyler controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Tyler trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Tyler stays in close to King's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tyler tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard.
King working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tyler.
Tyler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Tyler trying to control but King is working from the bottom.
Tyler might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Tyler crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from King - the referee stops the clock and Tyler gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says King. Tyler manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Tyler misses with a takedown attempt - King sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Tyler scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if King can do anything to dispel that myth.
Tyler in side control, throwing shots but King defends.
A lull in the action here.
Tyler in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Tyler tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tyler has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Tyler dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Tyler bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
King prevents Tyler from moving into mount.
Tyler in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Tyler wants to lay and pray for a moment but King keeps working.
Tyler has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for King!
King is squirming around, avoiding Tyler's attempts to control the action.
King wants to hold on but Tyler pushes him away.

Tyler postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. King looks a forlorn figure.

Tyler throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Tyler with shots to the head and body - King looks very uncomfortable down there.
Tyler tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Tyler breaks from King's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Tyler is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, King has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Tyler with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Tyler has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of King's face.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Tyler has isolated one of King's arms. King looking to fight him off but Tyler twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
