Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 20 - 0, fighting out of London, Stuart Redman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 43 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rip James!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Redman gets caught napping as James dives in and scores a takedown. Redman manages to retain guard.
James trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Redman tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Redman is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Redman wants to sweep but no luck.
James stops Redman from standing up.

James is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Redman wants to stand but James is controlling the position.
Redman keeping full guard, as James tries to pass.
Redman pulls James in close to prevent any damage.

James stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Redman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Redman has control of James's left arm, preventing James from doing any damage.
Redman is trying to control the position from the bottom.

We're going to have a standup here because Stuart Redman wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Redman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but James was well out of range. Poor timing from Redman.
James throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Redman throws a jab when James was well out of range.
James uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Redman.
Stuart Redman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James's jab looks to have found its range, popping Redman under the eye.
Redman takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Redman scores with a hook to the body. James takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

No luck for James with that takedown attempt.
Redman lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Redman.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Redman will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning James up against the cage.
James is trying to force a seperation but Redman has the dominant position.
James tries to score a body lock takedown but Redman shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
James wants a takedown.
Stuart Redman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rip James.
Redman scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Redman breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Redman wants to clinch.
James closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Redman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Redman listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
James uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Redman.
Redman looks to score with a jab to the body but James is just out of range.
James uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Redman.
Redman's hands are dropping dangerously low here and James connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Redman scrambles back to his feet.

James fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Redman to the ground. James is now in Redman's guard.

James passes Redman's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

James wants to free his trapped foot but Redman is holding on for dear life with his legs.
James is keen to just control but Redman is a slippery customer.

Redman takes a swing at James's ribcage but misses.
James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Redman tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Redman to the ground. Redman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Stuart Redman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Redman clinches up against the cage.
Redman scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Redman blocking some punches.
Redman is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

James pulls guard successfully.
Redman engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
James looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
James keeping moving, preventing Redman from controlling successfully.
James wants to sweep here but Redman controlling him for the moment.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
