PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stevie Hinch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Glen Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis has chosen Celtics as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stevie Hinch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Glen Davis!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Davis closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hinch's guard.

Hinch is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Davis is aware though and is defending well.
Hinch is trying to keep Davis in close.

Hinch preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Davis lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Hinch has his foot on Davis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Davis works his way back into a safe position though.

Davis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Davis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It looks like Glen Davis has been cut.

Hinch got a little sloppy there for a moment and Davis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hinch has managed to get both his arms back between Davis's legs - danger averted.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Davis throws his legs up looking for a submission but Hinch uses it to pass to side control.
Hinch cracks Davis with a big right hand but Davis just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Stevie Hinch will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nice takedown defense from Hinch. No joy for Davis on that attempt.


That has opened up Glen Davis's cut even more.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hinch enables Davis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hinch manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Hinch has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Davis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Davis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hinch defends it easily.

Davis has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hinch is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Davis.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hinch is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Davis has his hands clasped together but Hinch extends an breaks Davis's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hinch.

A relieved looking Stevie Hinch thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
