Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tom Brandt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nes Quick!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Kavanagh and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Quick as Brandt shoots in.
Brandt is trying hard to land a takedown here. Quick sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Quick moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Quick keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Brandt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A shot to the liver by Quick. Beautiful body shot.
Brandt is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Brandt needs to keep his hands up - Quick had a free shot at his head there.
Brandt fails with a takedown attempt.
Nes Quick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brandt on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Brandt is defended easily by Quick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Brandt drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Brandt works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Brandt in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Quick really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brandt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Quick is looking to stand up but Brandt isn't so interested in that idea.

Brandt working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Brandt throws a big elbow that misses.
Quick wants to get back to his feet but Brandt is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Quick wriggles free and stands up.
Quick throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Brandt.
Quick defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Brandt.
Brandt looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Quick is fending him off so far but Brandt persists. Nope, Quick circles away and we're back to standing.
Brandt shoots in for a double leg but Quick sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Brandt darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Brandt is breathing heavily.
Quick tries to kick Brandt off but Brandt keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brandt looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Quick with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brandt is working for a kimura but Quick is defending it quite comfortably.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Quick wants to get back to his feet.
Brandt tries to pass the half guard into mount. Quick knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Brandt prevents Quick from standing back up.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Brandt is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Brandt is keen to just control but Quick is a slippery customer.
Quick is trying to stand up here but Brandt is controlling him well.
Brandt thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Brandt is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Quick wants to get back to his feet.
Brandt landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Brandt working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Brandt frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Quick is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Quick is in a horrible position here. Brandt smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brandt is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Quick is bucking up trying to escape but Brandt cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Brandt can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Quick is looking to escape.

Brandt landing strikes from the mount.
Quick is squirming around, avoiding Brandt's attempts to control the action.
Oooh a big shot lands for Brandt! Quick is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Tom Brandt!
Our winner, Tom Brandt, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
